Livio was born in Verona, Italy, in 1946. Having moved to France as a child, he remained proud of his origins and spoke of his admiration for the culture, arts and scenic beauty of his native country.
As soon as he settled in Myans, the Benedetti family grew with the arrival of Raphaelle, who welcomed one of Livio’s first works into her bedroom.
He studied to become a construction technician before leaving for Charleville-Mézières to do his military service.
This was a turning point in his young life, as he created his first sculptures during this period. A series of wooden heads whose strength reveals an innate talent. Such was his revelation that, without hesitation, Livio chose the path of art when he returned to his adoptive Savoyard lands, which became an unquenchable source of inspiration for his work.
Livio settled in Chambéry in 1975 at the Rue Basse du Château. In 1989, he moved to Apremont on the slopes of the Granier to live and sculpt in an old farmhouse that he rebuilt with his own hands.
In the mid-90s, his growing reputation led to exhibitions throughout France and abroad. His highly diverse work, which combines modernity with a solid classical foundation, has won him widespread recognition. Some of his monumental sculptures bear witness to this, such as the bust of Monsieur Dumas, which can be seen in the gallery.
